I engaged YC and Jed from U-Home Interior Design for the renovation of my 3BR resale condo as they were the only few ID companies recommended by HomeMatch that actually gave me a quotation after a physical meet up. Not only that, I had a tight timeline and budget (I think I only met up with YC on 10th Feb and Reno started on 2nd Mar), but YC drafted out a quotation on the very day I met him for consultation, and showed me the reno timeline will be within my expectation of about a month. They were also able to meet my budget (Details of the scope of work: I wanted to tear down all existing carpentry and build carpentry in living room and the MBR, install some new lighting, overhaul of MBR toilet with kitchen untouched)

That said, their interior designs might not be as aesthetic as those you see on social media, as I feel the direction they are going is perhaps more functional.

The carpentry workmanship was average, a little outdated (see 2nd photo, I hardly see this kind of extra piece of wood to fill the gap nowadays for cupboards as it can be annoying since you need to open 1 door before you can access the other door. In comparison, the video shows the type of opening for the cupboard in my old room in my previous house, which is more convenient).

Sometimes, these details have been decided by the ID without consultation with me which I agree that on my part I should have probably indicated my preference from the start but not every client has experience in renovation to know these little details needs to be discussed and bring it up right from the start.

Even so, there were some design details that I did mention a few times verbally earlier in the reno journey (such as removing the floorboard of the cupboard so I can easily slide my vacuum in and out of the cupboard but was missed out unfortunately despite multiple mentions) which the ID would later say that they did send a detailing pdf for me to approve and I didn't voice out then. By the way the detailing did not show the design of the cupboard interior to such detail.
Note to new homeowners or those new to renovating their place to always reconfirm on WhatsApp or any other communication platforms that does show traceability of what you said or it could come back and bite you one day.

Nevertheless, although there were some hiccups, there were also additional add ons that the ID gave FOC which I am appreciative of.

The electrician also did a good job and even came down to my place multiple times because I ordered most of the lights myself and some of them came at different days during the Reno period of about 1.5 months, and he always cleaned up the area after doing drilling works.

Lastly, YC and Jed were very responsive and quick to rectify issues. They gave regular updates after every major work such as hacking, carpentry, painting.

Thank you so much for being part of my renovation journey!

VerifiedI had a great experience working with Melvin from U-Home for our home renovation. He was very responsive, patient, and professional throughout the entire process, which really gave me peace of mind and built my trust. Communication was clear, timelines were well managed, and any concerns were handled promptly.
The final result exceeded my expectations. With beautiful design kitchen, great workmanship and finishing. I am extremely happy with my newly renovated home and would highly recommend Melvin and U-Home.
